Physical Therapy at Keystone Chiropractic

Many people believe chiropractic care and physical therapy are an either/or solution. In fact, the two work very well together! Integrating physical therapy and chiropractic care can have better long-term benefits for patient care and treatment outcomes.

In some cases, a patient’s pain may come from poor alignment and improper use of, or a lack of strength in their muscles. Physical therapy helps to retrain your muscles and build up strength during your rehabilitation.

Chiropractic care uses adjustments; physical therapy uses movements—both work together to speed your recovery.

How Do They Work?

Chiropractic and physical therapy work best in conjunction. Chiropractic care helps take pressure off the nervous system. When stress builds up in the spinal column, it can cause problems. Chiropractors are trained to find the affected areas, and adjust them to correct the issue. Pain is reduced, muscle tension decreases, and range of motion increases, improving overall health and well-being.

Benefits from physical therapy treatments are cumulative. In some cases, chiropractic adjustments can provide immediate pain relief. And that’s what acute pain sufferers need the most.

Physical therapy helps patients restore strength, improve balance, and gain greater mobility and range of motion. Whether through corrective exercise, modalities, soft mobilization or other tools and treatments, physical therapy can address all the musculoskeletal conditions that limit movement and cause pain.

What to Expect

After your third or fourth visit, Dr. Nate will evaluate your response to therapy. This becomes the basis of your physical therapy plan. The strengthening work will be done in our office; he’ll prescribe stretching exercises to be done at home.

In our practice, the primary focus is on spinal physical therapy. A chiropractic adjustment can correct the misalignment and structural issues of the neck and back. Physical therapy improves the strength and flexibility of the muscles surrounding the spine. This helps relieve neck and back pain, and eliminates the root cause of the problem.

We combine chiropractic care and physical therapy to help our patients heal faster and stay that way longer. Both are great on their own, but when they’re combined, the results are amazing!
